Hi, thanks for visiting me!

JHD (Julia Huyser Design) began in 2009, when I started making jewellery from my garage and dining table while raising my two young daughters.

In those early days, I was juggling babies, nappies, sleepless nights and a growing family, while designing jewellery, building my collection and slowly getting my name out there. It was a gradual process, and JHD has continued to grow and evolve over the years.

I work from my studio in beautiful Pukerua Bay, Wellington, where I design and make each piece in small batches. I sell online and through selected shops around New Zealand.

My jewellery is proudly designed and made here in New Zealand using ethically sourced Rimu, which I hand-paint and finish with quality metals. Every piece is carefully made by hand.

In a world where so much is made cheaply and shipped by the thousands from the other side of the world, I think there’s something really special about choosing something that has been made slowly, thoughtfully and locally. 

I love that my jewellery can be a little piece of New Zealand that you can wear, gift and keep for years to come. From the Rimu itself to the painting and finishing, I put a lot of care into every piece and hope that shows when you receive it.

When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my family, teaching and playing with clay (yes, I'm also a potter!), getting out for a bushwalk, or keeping up with my two daughters, Lola and Rose.
