Your child and their friends will have so much fun having a pottery party!! They’ll get their hands dirty while learning about clay and making a special object to take home. Parties take place at my home studio in Pukerua Bay, Wellington. Your child will celebrate their birthday in style, and express themselves creatively alongside their friends.
Each child will get to make an item & glaze it with special coloured underglazes.
Venue: Julia’s studio – 17 Kapekape Place, Pukerua Bay, Wellington. This is a home based art studio.
Duration: Parties are 2.5 hours long and can be booked for Sat/Sun 10-1230 or Friday afternoons 330-6pm. Please get in contact with me with your preferred date/time, prior to booking online. julia.huyser@gmail.com
Cost: There is a base rate of $320 per party. Up to 8 children.
Ages: Children must be between 8-13 years of age.
Important note: It is preferable for the party children to be dropped and picked up after the party, however you can have 1 x adult sitting in with the group to take photos, help during the session if they wish. Please do not bring additional adults, siblings, friends or others. It is a small space and there simply isn’t enough room.
What’s included:
- Tuition – birthday child can choose 1 x object they wish to make during the party, and instruction will be given to make that object.
- If time is available, an additional item can be made. I will have an extra project on-hand incase.
- Up to 500 g of clay per child.
- 2 x kiln firings
- All tools will be provided.
- Final creations to take home (these will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the party, after 2 x kiln firings).
- Each child will also get a special ceramic decoration with their name on it (made by me). These will be picked up with the final items once ready.
What’s not included:
Decorations, food, drinks.
You may bring along dry snack foods such as chips, lollies etc. Also please bring your own paper cups/plates etc. There is not much room on the bench for food, so small bowls are preferable! You’ll need to take home all your food/rubbish after the party, please bring a rubbish bag.
Please bring:
Wear old clothing, and apron is good, such as a kitchen apron.

I’m really excited about your pottery party!
I have 2 daughters Lola (11) and Rose (6) who attend Pukerua Bay School. I’ve been pottering around for about 3 years now, and pottery has become a hobby, and pretty much an obsession! I love teaching children about clay in the comfort of my home studio space. I believe in nurturing creativity, and helping others express themselves through art and creation. These classes are suitable for all children, of all abilities, and will hopefully open a whole new world of fun, creativity, and passion for them!
Party fees
Clay, tools and firing fees ARE included in your fee. There are no additional expenses unless your child uses more than their clay allocation. Extra clay is $5 /500grams.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your party during the 2 weeks prior to the start date, you get 50% of your fee back.
If you cancel your party prior to 2 weeks before the party, we will refund 70% of the fee.
